To meet its promise of becoming a standard across capital markets, CDM needs an established format for the exchange of information. This standard must support:

- interoperability: users of the same version of the model should be able to exchange data regardless of their programming language
- model completeness: ability to represent the entire model
- readability: serialized data should be human readable
- compactness: serialized data should be as compact as possible

After review by the CDM Technology Architecture Working Group (TAWG), the community determined that the current JSON format had gaps that prevented it from becoming that standard. These gaps have now been closed with the introduction of a new serialization format.

This presentation showcases the new serialized format and the benefits it offers, particularly:
- its stronger alignment to model definitions
- improved readability
- compactness
- a more consistent machine-readable representation
- improved ease and speed of machine processing
